11/11/20: Baking Rice Krispie: LO7_C

Today I will be considering the ethics of multiple choices and actions during my first Rice Krispie treat baking experience. Like I said, I had never made them before but Tyler's mom wanted some so we went to the store to buy some ingredients. First choice was whether to buy large or mini marshmallows and how many. The recipe said to buy two packs of large marshmallows however, we didn't think that we could finish that much rice krispies and also we didn't want to waste any food. Next we were doing self checkout and we had to decide whether or not to back all the items we bought. I was against bagging them because these plastic bags are horrible for the environment however, Tyler said that we had too much stuff to carry. In the end we compromised and only used one bag. This would then not be wasteful but also make sure we didn't drop anything and then ruin some product which would then waste their money. A good compromise. Next time though, we should bring reusable grocery bags so we don't drop anything and we can be environmentally friendly. Once we started baking we had to microwave the marshmallows in two different bowls but the only microwave friendly bowls he had were regular eating bowls and not mixing bowls. Once we finished microwaving we had to mix in the cereal and we could either do it in the bowls already dirty from melted marshmallows or we could move them to another but that would dirty another bowl. So we decided to conserve dish soap and also our time and not change bowls. It ended up working out and was delicious. It was a fun baking experience with a bunch of unexpected choices.
